- 16 slices white sandwich bread (crusts removed)

Wonderful!
I used a pretty firm bread, next time I’ll use French baguette. I only had cheddar and parmigiana- but it was delicious; although a gruyere would have made a big difference! I prefer gruyere anyday.
Perhaps one should gave small Creuset casseroles so each serving comes in it’s own dish.
