Description
Pillowy bites of store-bought pizza dough are studded with all of your favorite toppings, including two kinds of cheese, mushrooms, baby spinach, fresh basil, and pepperoni. Then they’re baked to tender, crusty goodness in a Bundt pan. With a dunk in marinara sauce, the bread is a great appetizer or just a fun new way to enjoy pizza. The total time includes bringing the dough to room temperature, baking, and cooling, so the hands-on time is only about 30 minutes. The recipe is a Yummly original created by Ashley Strickland Freeman.
Ingredients
- 2 lb. refrigerated pizza dough (2 balls; buy balls of refrigerated pizza dough in the deli department or with other packaged goods)
- cooking oil spray (or use vegetable oil)
- 1/4 cup salted butter (melted)
- 3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 8 oz. sliced mushrooms (cut in half if large)
- 5 oz. pepperoni slices
- 3 cups baby spinach
- 1 oz. fresh basil leaves (coarsely chopped; 1 ounce is ½ cup chopped; plus more for serving)
- 24 oz. marinara sauce (warmed)
Directions
- Let pizza dough come to room temperature, 1 ½-2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F with a rack set in center of oven and a second rack underneath it. Coat a 9½- to 10-inch-wide Bundt pan with cooking spray.
- Cut each ball of dough into 12 roughly equal pieces (to make 1½-inch chunks). Stir together melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Dip each dough piece into the butter mixture and then place in a very large bowl. (This helps keep the dough pieces from sticking together; you may have 1-2 tablespoons leftover butter mixture.)
