- 1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. ghee (double the butter if not using ghee)
- 2 white onions (large, chopped fine in food processor)
- 1.25 oz. tomato puree (or canned tomatoes)
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/2 Tbsp. ginger paste
- 1/2 Tbsp. garlic paste
- 1 1/4 lb. chicken thigh (boneless skinless – cut into 1-2 inch cubes)
- 1 cup water (depending on the consistency of the curry you want)
- 1 Tbsp. red chili powder (or use a mix of cayenne pepper and paprika powder)
- 2 tsp. coriander powder
- 1 1/4 tsp. cumin powder
- 1 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1 tsp. Himalayan pink salt (or sea salt- adjust to taste)
- 2 tsp. garam masala powder
- 3/4 cup heavy cream (fresh cream)
- 2 Tbsp. butter

Turned out great. I used ‘In a Hurry Curry’ seasoning from Salt Sisters instead of garam masala. Served over basmati rice. You can make it hot or mild. I used paprika and cayenne. Delicious

wow, just wow. I have always been a huge fan of chicken tikka masala but I've never made any Indian dishes before. This was easy to make and tasted just like how i was hoping for it to taste. I think i messed up so many things because of minor substitions or just not quite having the correct ingredient and it still turned out perfectly. 10/10 for a fantastic tasting hard to mess up recipe!

turned out great.
I used chicken broth instead of water. also i added a bag of spinnich during the final simmer, i like spinnich in my butter chicken.
the problem with butter chicken is youre left with a bunch of ingredients to try and use. most of a can of tomato paste, most of a carton of heavy cream, a ridiculous amount of garam masala. like what else do you use garam masala for other than butter chicken? and i can only find it in big bags, not even little shakers like other spices. at least it keeps forever. lifetime supply of garam masala. ill probabaly pass it on to my future children one day.
