- 2 cups chopped tomatoes (or 1 can, with juice)
- 1 cup green beans (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup zucchini (sliced and quartered)
- 2 inches Parmesan cheese (piece, rind)
- 1 napa cabbage (small, about 10 oz)
- 1/3 cup soup pasta (e.g.ditalini, orzo, tiny shells)
- 1/2 cup red wine
- shredded Parmesan (for garnish, optional)

I've been making several different versions of this for a while now, always with V8 vegetable juice. Today, I made mine with bell pepper and black beans. I prefer another version with red beans and zucchini.

It was very good. I made quite a few substitutions based on the contents if my pantry. I skipped the green beans and added celery and carrots. I also used kidney and great northern canned beans instead of dry. I used Swiss chard instead of cabbage. Very hearty and tasty.
