Description
This fresh and healthy smoothie recipe couldn’t be easier. Made with just 5 ingredients, it’s a great way to showcase perfectly ripe summer berries. The recipe is allergy-friendly, adaptable, and easily doubled. Swap in your favorite non-dairy milk, or go with yogurt (plus a little milk or juice if the smoothie is too thick). No frozen bananas? Use fresh, plus a couple more ice cubes. Or go with frozen berries. And feel free to add more or less honey to taste. The recipe, which makes a 12-ounce smoothie, is a Yummly original created by Miri Rotkovitz, RDN.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy milk)
- 3/4 cup frozen banana slices (1 medium banana; or fresh banana plus a couple extra ice cubes)
- 1/2 cup strawberries (quartered; 6-8 fresh berries)
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 ice cubes (or a few more for a colder smoothie)
- 1/2 tsp. honey (or 1 tsp., optional; or use sugar)
Directions
- Add milk to a blender jar, followed by frozen bananas, strawberries, and vanilla. Hold the lid in place and pulse until mostly smooth.
- Add ice. If your blender has an ice crush function, use it to pulverize the ice (otherwise, pulse a few more times, until it sounds like no large pieces remain). Puree just until smooth.
- Taste smoothie. Add honey or sugar to taste if you like, pureeing briefly to blend. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
