Growing up in Mississippi we loved our Jambalaya, but our recipe always had to have one quintessential ingredient, Louisiana Hot Sauce! (Tabasco!) We loved that light vinegar tang and heat to just pure pepper flakes or ground cayenne, it really gives Jambalaya a unique flare! Also, if you aren't a fan of things like big chunks of cooked celery, don't be afraid to sub in Celery Flakes, imparts flavor without turning the kids off ;) Same goes for the raw garlic, if you can't stand mincing raw garlic or buying it ready minced, try the equivalent in desicated or ground dry garlic (garlic powder even). Still get flavor, lose the chore and pungent raw garlic odors, still get that enhanced aromatic flavor! If your rice isn't cooking "fast enough" in your crock pot, try cooking it seperately, direct heat can really cut the time and one traditional way to serve Jambalaya is not with it mixed in, but with the "stew" portion ladled over a nice scoop of fresh cooked long grain white rice! (You can even try parboiled rice (converted) for more nutritional value and less starch!)

This was an easy recipe to follow. I loved that I had all the ingredients in my pantry or freezer, and especially, that I could do this in my instant pot to cook the frozen meat, and then slow cook it together after.

Rice to water ratio is off. End up with half mush and half crunchy. Might work better on low.
Lacks salt and need to double the spices.

I am new to cooking; found the recipe easy to follow. Enjoyed the meal; it was very tasty. Next time will add less rice and more meat either additional chicken or shrimp maybe both. Thanks for a most enjoyable meal.

Everyone loved it. Swapped out chicken breast for chicken thighs & used beef sausage.
Added more spices & cooked the rice for 40 minutes.

It was really good. The rice took about 40 minutes to cook. We like things spicy so I used hot Hungarian paprika.

quick and easy to prep. used Farmer's sausage and added some shrimp at the end. Turned out amazing.

The rice didn’t cook all the way and the flavor is lacking. Just all around disappointed by this recipe.
