Simple and perfect… I blended about 3/4 to leave it a little chunky. Added bacon too and some homemade garlic croutons. Delicious soup. In fact, off to grocery to buy more veggies for round two b/c I have so much ham!

I had tried many split pea soup recipes over the years, and this is by far my favorite!! It is also suuuper easy to make!! Love it!

Have made this soup several times and absolutely love it! I generally make with low sodium chicken stock as it adds to the rich flavour. Also add in a couple of Bay Leaves.

Delicious! I added 1/2 of diced ham steak - marjoram and parsley herbs- chicken stock.

Loved this so much. The only thing I do to make it more rich is add chicken stock instead of water. One of my favorites!

Very good recipe! I was surprised at first at how watery the soup looked at first, but after an hour it had thickened up quite nicely. I found a bone in my soup though, which always kind of ruins it for me a little. First time I’d ever used ham hocks so I didn’t really know what to expect. The meat seemed a little gamey, even a little stinky. (Stinky feet?)
I ate two bowls though with some Texas toast (yessss, the frozen kind…) 😁

So good. I’ve made this a few times. Always delicious. I’ve used ham hocks and ham bones.

Delicious! Added a handful of small orange lentils to the dried peas.

Delicious! The recipe was very simple to make. I followed it almost exactly, although I used a stick mixer and didn’t add salt. The smoked ham hocks added lots of flavor and saltiness. This was my first time cooking with ham hocks and I was disappointed there was so little meat when I cut it up, but it turned out to be enough. I served it with fresh homemade honey wheat bread. I’ll definitely make it again.

Amazing! Used an immersion blender. Much easier

Absolutely the best! Couldn’t find smoked Ham, so I used a regular ham and added some liquid smoke! Definitely make it again!

Classic for a reason. You might be tempted to salt the vegetables, but hold off; the smoked ham hocks add just about enough salt all by themselves. I usually add 20% more vegetables and/or toss in a couple of leeks as well, along with a clove of garlic. Immersion blender works just as well as a blender.

Really good! Not too salty. I switched out the celery for leeks because it was what I had on hand, and it turned out delicious. I would recommend this recipe.

Delicious! I don’t do the blending part. We like the chunky version

it's really yummy. added some diced red potatoes. used cured ham shredded which is a must

Was so delicious! But, I had to make changes based on what was available to me at the time. I had purchased a large ham as we headed into COVID lockdown, then divided it into smaller chunks, proportioned for 2-3. For this recipe, I used the section with the bone included. So, I didn’t really need more salt. Also, I had to use fresh celery instead of dried, as well as dried thyme instead of fresh.

it was perfect! would definitely make this again!

This turned out really well. As smoked ham hocks weren’t in the store I used regular ham hocks, which I suspect led to a less complex flavour and had to add a lot more salt to compensate. Made it in my Instant Pot at high pressure for 45 mins with a natural release. Next time I would add more peas as I like a thicker soup and potentially liquid smoke since I can’t source the smoked hocks. FYI that it made 8 portions rather than the stated 5, but I’m definitely not complaining about that.

Really good , never made it to directions literally, too many pop ups overload for phone. Did in crock pot on highish , about 3-4 hours

Very good. Good use of the end of a whole prosciutto. A stick blender is fantastic for soups.

My husband doesn’t like the soup blended, but loves this recipe! I let it cook awhile longer and he eats as is.
