Description
Part pudding and part cake, this toffee apple creation is always best served warm with a generous dollop of the toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. Recipe taken from Apple: Recipes from the Orchard by James Rich.
Ingredients

- 175 grams unsalted butter (at room temperature)
- 150 grams caster (superfine sugar)
- 200 grams self raising flour
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 4 eggs (beaten)
- 100 grams ground almonds
- 50 grams sultanas (golden raisins)
- 200 grams granny smith (crisp eating, dessert apples, such as, or Chivers Delight, peeled, cored and sliced)
- 200 mL cream (double, heavy)
- 50 grams butter
- 175 grams muscovado sugar (light)
- syrup (1 tablespoon golden, light corn)
- 1 Tbsp. black treacle (molasses)
- vanilla ice cream
