I made it this week. Delicious...delicious...delicious. I made a few tweaks some my own and some as suggested by others.
Subbed BBQ sauce for Worcestershire sauce.
Subbed oat flour for breadcrumbs.
Increased garlic to 5 cloves.
Added 3 Tbls Hot Sauce
Glazed w/ mixture of Equal parts ketchup/BBQ sauce
I let the mixture covered tightly set overnight before baking the following evening. 🔥🔥🔥

This has made it to my regular menu rotation ...super delish and if you make sure you don’t over process the chickpeas as noted in the instructions it holds together very well...easy to slice...doesn’t fall apart ...and most importantly...DELISH!

Great! I enjoyed it!

I'm very pleased! I may experiment with the glaze next time better compliment the hickory taste of the meatloaf that the liquid smoke provides.

Wow, this turned out great! I didn't have an onion or carrots, so I substituted them with extra celery, some red pepper and a good amount of onion powder. I also substituted liquid smoke with cayenne powder and smoked paprika. The glaze is amazing and surprisingly I had no trouble getting it all to stick together.

Very filling and tasty!

It turned out great. It tasted pretty gross. Mashed potatoes help this out tremendously as a side dish. Otherwise, you are going to spend way too much prep time to be very disappointed.

Delicious! Added some peppers and cayenne to spice things up 👌😋 and it was even better the next day as leftovers

This was GREAT!. It smelled so good when I was mixing and while baking. I was hoping it would taste as good and I was not disappointed. The sauce on top was a little strong for me but I just scraped most of it off. I did add an egg as a previous post suggested. No other alterations. I will definitely be adding this to my regular dinner planning rotation.

One HUGE improvement to be made on the recipe is making a flax egg with the 2 T ground flax, THEN mixing it in. If you're not vegan, a normal egg will suffice. This step is absolutely critical to the loaf staying together when slicing and eating.
To make a flax egg:
1. mix 2 T ground flax with 4 T hot water
2. blend in food processor to get egglike consistency
3. mix with hands into the rest of the mixture as last step before forming loaf

Pretty delicious! I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out great. I would make it again.

For a vegan meatloaf it was what was expected. I secretly made it for the guys at the fire station and they had no clue it was meatless, until they tasted it. They were all pretty upset and i was banded from cooking so mission complete.

I have been following this recipe for my vegan clients. The best consistency and flavor in a meatloaf of beans and grains

Surprisingly tasty! Keeping it firm enough was difficult though.

Yummly User 4 years ago
Really tasty! Definitely better the second day when it is more firm we served it with mashed cauliflower for a really home style meal

Very crumbly probably won’t make it again

I liked it but it didn’t quite turn it as I expected. Still, it was good, and a nice way to bet some veggies on your plate.

This recipe is an absolute family favourite

Turned out a little dry, but that was probably my fault. I was worried about it being too wet so I cooked it a bit longer. Flavors were good though and I’ll definitely make again.

Was terrible
Follow instructions. Will never make this again

It was delicious, but it never firmed up. We are just going to scoop it out and make meatballs.

I loved this chickpea loaf, as did my husband and sister who are not vegan. I did add a little more maple syrup to the topping. Mine was a little thick and tasted too much tomato. Next time I would add some mustard to the loaf mixture, then it would be very similar to a family recipe. Loved this and will make it again, probably many times!

The meatloaf is delicious! Took the advice of other reviewers and made a few changes. I added mushrooms and soaked the flax seeds in chickpea juice. I'm definitely going to make this again and can't wait to share with my family.

This was fairly easy to make and extremely tasty! I made some modifications and it still turned out awesome. Instead of 2 cans of chickpeas I used 1 can of chickpeas and 1 can of red lentils. I also didn't have any Flax so i didn't use it, as well i used 1 cup of a frozen mix veg in place of the chopped celery since i didn't have that either. It seems this recipe is extremely versatile and will definitely make again!

Delicious! I’ve made it a few times and find that it’s better if I really pack the mix into the loaf pan. I also like to use two pans and not pack them as deep, this way I find it gets a bit drier.

This is an amazing base recipe! However I found that it is quite bland when one follows the given directions. I added mushrooms, cilantro, and Thai basil; as well as higher amounts of tamari and Worcester. I didn't have tomato paste so I did the best I could with fresh tomatoes, I'm not counting out that that had an effect. however with my additions plus a little extra salt, pepper, and coriander this was an amazing meal. so yummy. The Base recipe is an awesome start, but make it your own and you'll love It!
