Great recipe; the beans and rice are so flavorful. The chef left a note at the bottom of the ingredients list (on the page with the directions) saying it’s a very spicy recipe so I cut back significantly on the hot sauce and cayenne and it was still fantastic. I didn’t change much else, I used basmati rice because that’s what I had. So good! Plenty for leftovers too.

I doubled the recipe and made a few of my own adjustments. Previous reviewers said recipe as is was too spicy so I did the following:
- no jalapeño and no hot sauce, used about a tablespoon of sriracha instead - no cilantro - added a teaspoon of chicken bouillon. Came out great! Will make again

As written, the recipe is WAY too spicy, but it still gets 5 stars because the general idea, minus some of the spice, is definitely a win. I went with just one Tbsp of Valentina hot sauce, and kept the jalapeños, but that’s it for spice and it was almost too much for me even at that level. So I think 3 Tbsp hot sauce plus cayenne is just way overboard. But otherwise, this black beans and rice recipe is amazing!!

A little spicy but paired with some tortillas or flat bread it is lovely
