Yummmm! & quick!
Timing in your microwave may vary

melt butter, add water and vanilla, then cocoa powder, *stir* sugar next, flour, then what i do different is add 1/4 tsp baking powder after the flour. It becomes an actual mug cake, if you don't it's like a lava cake.

I added a tablespoon of espresso powder and a little more water. It turned out like a wonderful dark chocolate brownie in taste and texture! So yummy! I’d add about 1/8 tap baking powder to make it more cake-like, but this satisfied my chocolate cake craving!

yo this is kinda not good???
made it and instead of becoming cake it basically boiled and then went back to batter form when i let it cool down, albeit more thick and chewy now.
still smells good but i dont think im gonna eat any more because it's just... too weird and makes my stomach nauseous.

Loved it! Cooked it for 2 minutes and 15 seconds for cake-like texture. Added a scoop of Ice cream out of the oven Yum! Might add pecans next time. Loved the convenience, nothing but a cup to clean up and the personal size.

I think the time was wrong and you should put it in for at least 2:00 but other than that I think the recipe was awesome!

the batter looked really good and yummy but once we baked it in the microwave i realized the recipe forgot baking powder. put about 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder in you mug and bake it for about 20-30 seconds more than it says.

Moist and delicious! I halved the sugar and would even add less. Will definitely try this recipe again.

Really good and turned out dense and SUPER chocolate-y, I only gave it four stars cause of the dense-ness, just personal preference.

Quick and tasty, I added peanut butter.

This was my first time trying a mug cake. This is super simple! I followed along with some of the comments and microwaved it longer, I did mine for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and also added a pinch of cinnamon! It was incredibly delicious and easy to make. Will definitely be saving this recipe to make more often.

It was easy to make and taste great I would reduce the sugar slightly but that’s preference

Very Dry and crumbly add more water/butter and wayyyyyyy more sugar

It tastes great, if you’re a super hardcore chocolate fan. I expected something a little on the lighter side in terms of chocolate. The end result of this recipe is a heavy, fudgy chocolate cake. I also cooked this for 3 minutes!

I loved it! I added some baking powder and I found that it rose more then when I didn’t add it.

It was my first time to make a mug cake & I got this one because it has the easiest recipe but it didn't work out! It didn't rise and it hardened like chocolate candies but not in a good way. The smell tho was amazing, but that's it.

i really enjoyed this, it was very good. the one thing i have to say, is it didn’t rise too much and there is no way you can cook this for 30-40 seconds and get the results you want. i wanted more of the lava-y effect, so i cooked it in the microwave for 3 minutes and it turned it delicious. i highly recommend, just make sure you add a couple more minutes.

It tasted amazing and balanced, it wasn't to sweet but it wasn't too blant either, my only concern was that it was a bit runnt
Yummly User 4 years ago
I was hoping for a recipe that did rise up and fill the mug. Taste was fine but presentation disappointed.

So I'll start by saying I don't really like chocolate most of the time ... but every now and then I get a Craving. And this warm gooey almost molten rich chocolate mug cake ABSOLUTELY hit the spot! Serve with milk. :)
