Description
The sweet and spicy flavors of this dish echo Korean fried chicken wings, but without the hassle of deep frying. Look for gochujang, a sweet and spicy Korean red pepper paste, in the International aisle of many grocery stores, at an Asian market, and online. The recipe is a Yummly original created by Julia Lee.

- 2 green onions
- 1 1/2 lb. boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. water
- 1/2 inch fresh ginger (1/2 inch is 1 Tbsp. minced)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 Tbsp. gochujang (sweet and spicy Korean red pepper paste; buy at grocery stores, Asian markets, and online)
- 2 Tbsp. mirin
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 1 Tbsp. toasted sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp. seasoned rice vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. toasted sesame seeds

Directions
- Thinly slice the green onions and set aside. Cut chicken into 1-inch pieces. Combine the chicken, salt, cornstarch, and water in a medium bowl. Set mixture aside.
- Peel and finely grate the ginger using a hand-held rasp-style grater or box grater. Transfer ginger to a small mixing bowl. Grate or mince the garlic. Add it to the ginger with the gochujang, mirin, honey, sesame oil, and vinegar, and stir until well combined. Set sauce aside.
- Heat a large, heavy-bottomed frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the oil, swirling to coat bottom of pan. Add the chicken and spread pieces into a single layer. Cook until well-browned on underside, 2-3 minutes. Turn pieces over and cook until browned on second side, 2-3 minutes. Transfer chicken to a bowl.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and add sauce mixture to pan. Cook, stirring constantly, until hot, about 30 seconds. Return chicken to the pan and toss until well coated.
- Transfer chicken to a serving plate. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and green onions, and serve immediately.

Yummy! Hubby and I both liked it. It was fairly easy to prepare. Next time, I will make more sauce. Recipe had just enough, but i wanted more!

Excellent tasty recipe. I made the gochujang paste myself with red chili flakes, sake, rice vinegar, red miso paste, honey and water. The store bought does not compare with the sugar and other flavor additives. Also, I followed the directions but left out the Mirin which is vinegar with added sugar, so instead I added xtra honey to my taste and bit more rice vinegar. Then I simmered the chicken in the sauce on low for 35-40 minutes and WoW! It melted in my mouth with flavor and tender chicken. Lastly I wrapped them in butter lettuce. Will def make again soon.

this was so easy to make I've made this a few times and adjusted the sweet and spicy to my liking but it's easyto make and greatwhen paired with rice.

Not bad, itjust wasn't great either. I did substitute white cooking wine for the mirin, and that could have affected the flavor profile. it just wasn't as flavorful as other Korean food I've had.

Turned out amazing, started to learn how to cook with this dish and like it says it’s an easy recipe, would definitely recommend as a starting place for beginners like myself

It's very tasty. I would double or even quadruple the recipe as it is a lot of steps for 1 1/2 lbs of food.

Oh my, this is better than take-out! Total winner! I used chicken breast and then crisped up in the air fryer. Served it over Jasmine rice.

tasty! the instructions were not super accurate. mine wasn't very fried in the time suggested, but the flavors were there! spicier than i expected, but in a good way. i will make the cooking adjustment for next time. great served over sticky rice

Easy enough to throw together quickly unless you need to visit a Korean grocery store. Very tasty dish, more kick than I expected but it was delicious.

I used chinese black rice vinegar instead of the seasoned rice vinegar and served it on top of rice, absolutely delicious
