I love Panera’s orange scones and was really hoping this recipe would be as good or better and sadly it was not. The only positive was the great orange flavor. The texture of the scone came out gummy and dense. I make scones a lot and know you can’t overwork the dough. I have never used sour cream in a scone before so perhaps this was the issue. If I made this again, I would make some major adjustments to try to get the scone texture less dense.

I have made this recipe several times and it is a HIT! Excellent. Loved by everyone, kids, grandkids and guests.

These turned out so perfectly! Only change I made was using lemon Oikos Greek yogurt in place of sour cream because it's what I had. Oh, and I accidentally cut into 6 slices instead of 8 (I was distracted). The scones are so soft, moist, and bursting with orange flavor. Everyone loved them!
