Amazing! I didn’t have ginger or saffron so I added some moroccan curry powder instead. Served with basmati rice. The whole family loved it.

My dad said it was "The best lamb dish he ever tasted." And I have to agree. Expensive dish, but worth making. May save it for special or annual occasions like Easter, but such a good stew. I used a lamb shoulder roast for the stew meat. Next time I'll remember to trim the fat.

roast the dates on a pan and add to the pot. Best dish ever

Perfect to prepare early, dump in the oven and then forget about. My very picky and pedantic resident food critic (2 year old) asked for seconds. One of the best stews I have ever made, thank you.

Great recipe, but it should really specify how much salt/pepper to use. I ended up adding more to the pot before I put it in the oven.
