  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 lb. shrimp (uncooked, peeled and deveined)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (or a few dashes of extra cayenne if you like it extra spicy)
  • 1 lb. andouille sausage (cut into 1/4-inch slices)
  • 5 slices bacon (or 1/4 lb Cajun Tasso Ham cut into 1/4-inch slices)
  • 1 red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1 orange bell pepper (or yellow, chopped)
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 3 Tbsp. white wine (nice splash to deglaze pan)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • green onions (for garnish, optional)
  • lemon (squeeze of, if you like for the shrimp, optional)

    it was very spicy and i love spicy food but this was a bit too spicy for me. overall it was very good.
