- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup white onion (diced)
- 2 cups corn grits
- 6 cups chicken broth (or stock)
- 1 1/2 cups half and half
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 Tbsp. hot sauce
- 1 tsp. salt (plus additional to taste, this will depend on how salty your broth is)
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. dried basil
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp. sweet paprika
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 lb. raw shrimp (peeled and deveined, strongly recommend red shrimp*)
- 1 shallot (blub, minced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/3 cup beer (light lager, wheat beer, pilsner)
- 1 tsp. hot sauce
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley (chopped)
