Description
We adapted this recipe from Devil's Teeth Baking Company to create a border that shows off the bright filling. To completely cover the pie, just double the topping.

- pie pastry (1/2 recipe Crisp and Tender Pastry: https://www.sunset.com/recipe/crisp-tender-pastry, or other homemade or store-bought crust)
- 2 1/4 lb. sweet potatoes (orange-fleshed, such as Garnet, sometimes called "yams")
- 3 large eggs
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar (packed, for filling)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3 Tbsp. heavy whipping cream
- 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter (melted, for filling)
- 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract (for filling)
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon (for filling)
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt (for filling)
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. light brown sugar (packed, for topping)
- 1 Tbsp. dark corn syrup
- 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter (melted, for topping)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract (for topping)
- 1/4 tsp. kosher salt (for topping)
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon (for topping)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (coarsely)
