It was very good,I added a spicy chicken sausage with the beef and black beans. All other ingredients were as per the recipe

Soooo good! I added more of the spices; I used what the recipe said then just put more of everything. My family loved this.

This became a fantastic tasting chili! Definitely one of my top two favorites. I have lived in south Texas nearly my whole life. Made half the batch separately with black beans for my spouse, who insists on them. Not like he, a non-lifetime Texan, would know... Red Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon. No, I have never seen wine in a Texas chili before, but this was okay because I had it around just to cook with, and now it won’t get wasted. Didn’t use the olive oil, yogurt, green onions, etc.. DID keep the fat in and cooked about 1 sweet yellow onion and green bell pepper with the meat. Those are ALWAYS in my chili. Shredded cheese on top and 1/2 quesadilla on the side. Served over brown & white rice. (Cornbread or Fritos would have been the most South Texan thing to do, but less healthy). So hard to stop eating this!

I love it!! I made it exactly as the recipe called for and I was delighted. REAL TEXAS CHILI has NO BEANS! LOL!

Great easy chili for a weeknight meal!

Great with a tablespoon of cocoa to give the Mexican flavor. I always add unsweetened cocoa to chilli.

It's a terrific *basic* chili. It's perfect for my family because everyone can customize it with other stuff. I cooked it in my Instant Pot, following the recipe, then pressure-cooked it for 15 minutes. When it was done, I thought it was still a little soupy, so I added a few Tbsp of cornmeal and then pressure-cooked it for another 15 minutes. That made it exactly right.

i needed to add a few things. especially salt

This recipe is a good jumping off point. I ended up having to triple the salt (not sure why there’s so little salt in the recipe for two pounds of meat plus like three cups of liquid!). Next time I’ll probably add a chopped jalapeño with the onion and some Worcestershire sauce for some more depth.

Awesome!! I added red pepper flakes and a bit more chil powder along w/ green and yellow bell peppers.Better when seasoning the meat before hand

it was really good, I add some chili fixins to mine minus the wine. i also add deer meat alone with the ground beef.
